Hello, and welcome to this blog space so graciously provided by zenfolio. This is where you will find my musings about the photographic (and sometimes not). You won't find much that's technical unless I'm making fun of some gadget or those who suck the art out of photography by the overuse of the technical, techie terms, and rules. I won't dazzle you with math, lens comparisons (although I'm in love with the 70-200), camera specs, or the science of light. I believe I will take the Seinfeld approach and write a lot about nothing…or nothing about a lot…whatever interests me or I find amusing.
I can't think of a better way to start a blog than writing about laughing. Although I love any image that invokes a strong emotion of some kind (usually dark and in black & white), my favorite images ever are of people laughing…caught up in their moment…oblivious to the camera or their surroundings. (1) The first photo is of Colin & Sahara. In this instance it was because of the camera and surroundings that they were laughing. They were modeling for an "Engagement Portraits" assignment. They grew up together and are like brother and sister, so it was difficult for them to act like they were "in love," which most often ended up with them laughing and taking many breaks, which I took advantage of. I liked the photos of them laughing better than the "posed" photos. (2) Then there is Kevin. The first time I saw him, I knew I had to get a photo of him. His smile is full of character and his laugh is infectious. Every time I see this photo, I can hear him. (3) The third photo is of Jessica. This was taken during a lunch break, and she was laughing at something Alex was saying. Or she was laughing at Alex doing nothing. Or of Alex thinking of doing nothing. Pick one. There is a lot of inside joke in that image.
I feel better already.
Stay tuned for "Photos I Wish I Had Taken."
